Belhaven Kennels

Welcome to Belhaven Kennels.
Leaving town is never easy when your dog must stay behind. You want to know that your friend is in a pet-friendly environment. A place which gives your dog his own personal space. A place which offers access to her own private outdoor exercise area. A place at which people are always on site. In other words, you want your dog to stay at a place that reminds you of  a home--your home.

Fay Shelly and Wendy Castleman own and run Belhaven Kennels. Fay lives on-site, assuring you that your pet will never be left alone. Pick-up and drop-off hours are available in the mornings and afternoons.
Belhaven Kennels is located just outside the city of Batavia. With over 30 years of experience in kenneling both dogs and cats, we hope that you'll give us a call or stop by and check out our facility.

the kennel

We have a total of 16 rooms at the Kennel. Your friend will not get lost in the crowd. Our rooms are large and spacious both inside and out. Our rooms are separated by solid walls. This gives your friend a sense of security and helps him feel at home. Each room features a door providing access to a private outdoor area. Your friend will have plenty of room in which to play and exercise. Four of the rooms are approximately 6' x 8'. Two of these rooms have twin size beds for the dog who is accustomed to sleeping in bed! The outside areas for three of these rooms are approximately 15' x 15', the fourth being 15' x 40'. The remaining rooms average 5' x 7' inside and have 6' x 15' outside areas. There is a secondary set of fencing around the entire Kennel property so that no one can escape during their stay with us.

Frequently asked questions

What should I expect the first time I bring in my friend?
We will get your friend settled into his own private room and outdoor run with a cozy bed and water. Then we will ask you a few questions about who your vet is, how
to reach you, when you are returning and of course any other information we need to know about your friend while you are away.
Do I need to have any special vet care before we come in for boarding?
It is necessary that all animals are current on their rabies, distemper and parvo vaccines. It is also required that all dogs have a current kennel cough vaccine. These vaccines are required of all animals and will help to keep your friends happy and healthy during  their stay with us. You will be asked to bring a copy of these required vaccines with you at drop off.
What about food, toys, treats, or bedding?
We strongly encourage you to bring your own food, toys and bedding. Your friend will be much more comfortable surrounded by their things from home.
My friend is on medication. Is that a problem?
We have over thirty years of experience with companion animals as well as experience as a licensed vet technician. There is no extra charge for giving medications. Please be sure to provide plenty of medication for the entire stay as well as complete medical and vet information.
What time can I drop off and pick up?
Our hours are Sunday - Friday 8 - 11am and 3:30 - 6pm and Saturday 8 - 11am. Be sure to discuss details when you book your reservations.
